Birthstone Necklaces

A birthstone necklace for every month of the year, handmade in our Chester studio. Real gemstones for someone who wants the stone itself, and dainty personalised teardrops when the name or initial matters as much as the colour. From £31.

A birthstone is the simplest kind of meaningful gift. You don't need to know someone's taste in jewellery, only the month they were born — and the stone does the rest. Every necklace below is made by hand in our Chester studio, and every gemstone order arrives with a printed crystal information card explaining what that stone has traditionally stood for.

    Find Your Birthstone Month

Twelve months, twelve stones. Pick the month and we'll show you every necklace we make in it.

Not sure which stone belongs to which month? Our complete guide to birthstones by month walks through all twelve, including the months that carry more than one.

The same birth month, four very different necklaces. Which one you want usually comes down to who it's for and how they wear jewellery.

Raw Crystal Pendants — from £32

An uncut piece of the stone, wire-wrapped and hung on a fine chain. No two are the same shape, which is the whole appeal. The most natural-looking way to wear a birthstone, and our most affordable. See all raw crystal pendants.

    Sun Pendant Necklaces — £45

A 20mm sun pendant with a smooth cabochon birthstone set at the centre, on a beaded satellite chain. Our most-gifted style — substantial enough to be the only necklace someone wears, and available with engraving on the reverse. See all sun necklaces.

Beaded Gemstone Necklaces — from £85

Hand-strung strands of real faceted gemstone, cut and knotted in the studio. These are the pieces people buy for a milestone birthday or a significant anniversary — the stone by the handful rather than the single pendant. See all beaded necklaces.

Personalised Birthstone Necklaces — from £31

When the name matters as much as the stone. Choose the birth month and we'll make it to order in Chester.

Real Gemstones and Crystal Birthstones — Both, On Purpose

We make birthstone necklaces two ways, because people are buying them for two different reasons.

Our gemstone necklaces use the real mined stone — raw garnet, faceted peridot, genuine Arizona turquoise. If you want the actual material, with the weight, depth and natural variation that comes with it, this is the side of the range to look at.

Our personalised necklaces use high-quality crystal birthstones: faceted to match each month's traditional colour, with the brilliance of a cut gem at a price that makes a twelve-colour personalised range possible in the first place. It's what lets us offer a birthstone necklace at £31, and what lets a grandmother wear seven stones on one chain without it costing four figures.

Both are made in the same studio, to the same standard. We tell you which is which on every single product page, so you can choose on the merits rather than guess.

    Choosing One as a Gift

    • You know the month, not their taste. Start with a sun pendant or a raw crystal — both read as thoughtful without committing to a style.
    • It's a milestone. A beaded gemstone strand is the piece that gets kept.
    • It's for a young person's first proper necklace. The dainty personalised teardrop, from £31.
    • You want it to be unmistakably about them. Add the initial or the name.
    • It's for a mum or grandmother. One stone per child on a single chain says the thing without needing words.

Every order arrives gift-ready in our signature Abiza packaging, and gemstone pieces include the crystal information card for that stone. Working to a budget? See our gifts under £50.

    Looking After It

Our personalised pieces are built on 316L surgical-grade stainless steel — hypoallergenic, water and tarnish resistant, and fine for everyday wear. Natural gemstone and beaded pieces prefer a little more care: keep them away from perfume, lotion and chlorinated water, and store them in your Abiza pouch when they're not being worn. A soft cloth is all either needs.
