How Big Is 40mm?
A £2 coin measures 28.4mm across, so the hoop is a good deal wider than that and reaches roughly to the jawline on most people. Large enough to be the only jewellery you need, and because the band is faceted they still catch the light when your hair is down and only part of the hoop shows.
Why Faceted Rather Than Smooth
A plain polished hoop reflects light as one continuous line. Faceting breaks that into dozens of small planes, so at the same size the earring reads as brighter and more worked. It also hides the marks of everyday wear better than a mirror finish does.
Gold or Silver
The same hoop in both. The 18K gold is a PVD finish bonded into the steel rather than a thin plating sitting on top of it, so it holds its colour through daily wear — rain, the gym and a holiday included.

Care
