    Nazar – from the Arabic word for "sight" – is the name used in Turkish and across the Middle East, South Asia and the Mediterranean for the evil eye: the belief that an envious or jealous glare can bring bad luck. The blue eye amulet is traditionally worn to turn that glare away and protect the wearer.
