Pearl Jewellery

Real freshwater pearl, hand-strung in our Chester studio. A pearl gift sits in its own category — worn at weddings, given for milestone birthdays, slipped into a christening box, kept and passed down. Our Pearl Jewellery range runs from everyday stud earrings and dainty chokers to the signature Pearl Bracelet for women, pearl rings and pearl-and-gemstone pairings. Every piece is hand-strung or set in-house and ships in our signature gift box with a crystal information card.

    A Note on Our Pearls

Every Abiza pearl is a real freshwater pearl — grown by a mollusc using the centuries-old cultured-pearl method that produces the standard pearl used in fine jewellery worldwide. Each pearl carries small natural variations in shape, size and lustre, which is what makes a pearl piece feel personal — and which sets a cultured pearl apart from a glass or shell bead. If a product anywhere on our site is made from glass pearl, shell pearl or faux pearl, we'll tell you in the product title and description.

Pearl as a Birthstone and Anniversary Stone

Pearl is one of two traditional June birthstones (alongside moonstone), and the official 30th wedding anniversary gift. That makes pearl jewellery a natural choice for:

    • June birthdays — see the full June Birthstone Jewellery guide
    • 30th wedding anniversaries — the classic "pearl anniversary" gift
    • Weddings and bridesmaid gifts — pearl signals purity, poise and lasting commitment
    • Milestone birthdays — 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th — pearl earns its place in long-kept jewellery boxes
    • Christenings and naming gifts — a small pearl piece, often kept and given on at a later milestone

    Mother of Pearl

Mother of Pearl is a separate but related natural material — the iridescent inner layer of the same mollusc shells that produce pearl. It carries the same June birthstone meaning, costs less than a comparable pearl piece, and works beautifully in beaded bracelets. See the Skinny Mother of Pearl Bracelet and Mother of Pearl Slider Bracelet for the current options.

    Caring for Pearl Jewellery

Pearl is a soft, water-sensitive material — beautiful, but it needs a little protection. Remove your pearl piece before showering, swimming, sleeping, or applying perfume and lotion. Wipe gently with a soft cloth after wear, and store in your Abiza pouch or gift box when not worn. With care, a real pearl piece holds its lustre for decades.
