Bloodstone (also called heliotrope) is one of the most distinctive stones in the natural world — a deep, forest-green chalcedony scattered with vivid red iron-oxide spots that look almost painted on. Long known as the "warrior's stone", it was carried by Roman and Greek soldiers into battle for courage, strength and vitality, and later took on Christian symbolism — the red flecks said to represent drops of blood at the crucifixion. Today bloodstone is connected to the root chakra and worn as a steady, grounding talisman of resilience, energy and quiet courage.
