Moonstone Jewellery

Real moonstone, hand-strung and set in our Chester studio. Hold a moonstone piece up to the light and you'll see why it earns its name — that flash of blue, gold or rainbow inside the stone is called adularescence, and it's what makes moonstone unmistakable. Most of our moonstone is rainbow moonstone from India and Sri Lanka, where the stones are cut to bring out the strongest play of colour. June birthstone, crown-chakra stone, given for intuition, new beginnings and feminine energy.

    A Note on Our Moonstone

Every Abiza moonstone is a real natural moonstone — untreated, with the play of colour the stone is famous for. We work primarily with rainbow moonstone from India and Sri Lanka, where the stones are cut to bring out the strongest adularescence (the optical effect that makes moonstone shimmer with blue, gold or rainbow under light). Smaller stones go into our bracelets and earrings; larger, more characterful pieces are kept for our rings and pendants.

    Moonstone Meaning

Moonstone has been worn as a stone of intuition, new beginnings and feminine energy for thousands of years. Its established associations include:

    • Stone of intuition and inner truth
    • Stone of new beginnings — given at engagements, before journeys, on the eve of big changes
    • June birthstone — alongside pearl, one of two traditional choices
    • Crown chakra stone — for spiritual clarity and connection
    • Fertility, pregnancy and motherhood — moonstone is a long-standing gift for journeys into motherhood

These are meanings carried in crystal tradition; we share them as background, not as therapeutic claims.

Pearl and Moonstone — June's Two Birthstones

June has two traditional birthstones — moonstone for intuition and shimmer, pearl for purity and quiet elegance. They make a beautiful pairing for someone born in June, or as a mother-and-daughter or his-and-hers combination. See our June Birthstone Jewellery guide for the full pairing options, or the Pearl Jewellery collection for moonstone's classic counterpart.

    Caring for Moonstone

Moonstone is a soft, water-sensitive stone — beautiful, but it needs a little protection. Remove your piece before showering, swimming, sleeping, or applying perfume and lotion. Wipe gently with a soft cloth after wear, and store in your Abiza pouch or gift box when not worn. With care, the play of colour holds its shimmer for years.
